One of my favorite recipes from my Mom's newest cookbook is Berry Crisp!
The base is pear and berries, and then on top is this amazing crumbly bread-like topping, and sliced almonds. I was surprised when I first made it, because it doesn't contain any honey. And yet it has a subtle sweetness from dates that is delicious. I love to eat it on top of SCD yogurt and honey. My family likes it too, and I would be proud to serve it to guests! In fact, I did try to serve it to my sister and her family when they visited this summer. And just as I took it off of the stove to put into the refrigerator to cool, it slipped out of my hands. It was one of those slow motion events when you can hardly believe it happened. . . I just stared at it in disbelief, splattered all over the floor amidst the glass shards of my favorite dish. And then I looked up and saw all of the berry splatters on my new white cabinets. Ugh! Well, I made it again yesterday and nothing bad happened, thankfully! You can find the recipe in The Flavor First Cookbook on Amazon - a plus is that you can get free next-day delivery with Amazon Prime. (And the cookbook has some great new reviews too, so check those out!) ~ Erin
